Creating Personal and Community Impact through the Art of Sewing

What's New

Welcome to our Studio Angel Gaines, Seauxing

Seeds Foundation Studio Manager!

A native of Slidell, Angel learned to sew from her mother at six years old and is a member of Ozone Layers Quilt Guild. With her love for vintage sewing machines, Angel was a garment Sewist most of her life, but about 5 years ago started quilting. She said as a farm girl, she didn’t need any more clothes, but wanted to continue sewing. “You can never have too many quilts!”. Angel still sews with her mother, who embroiders, and together they make quilts from the embroidered panels. She is a married mother of five and lives in Folsom. Please stop by the studio and welcome Angel!

Angel Gaines, Seauxing Seeds Studio Manager

It's hard to believe summer has come and gone! We took a two-week break but are now back in full swing with a fall semester of new and exciting classes and projects: We have introduced Beginner Seauxing II and Let's Geaux Quilt I into the lineup. We are incorporating Introductory Quilting techniques into our Project Seaux classes as well. Please check the calendar of events for more information.

Our Seaux-it-forward Program continues to bring volunteers to our studio throughout each month to sew items for donation to our community partners, such as The Northlake Crisis Pregnancy Center, Northshore Enduring Hope and Basket of Hope. We also offer Open Seaux sessions where we welcome anyone with all levels of experience to participate with community projects or to sew your own project. We have many project kits available for purchase in our SeauxMart Store. Please check our website for information on upcoming sessions, classes and events.

Our studio is also available for private lessons or group events. Go to the Calendar of Events tab on our Website or visit us on Facebook: seauxingseedsfoundation for more information or call the studio to register: (985) 234-9182.

One Friday each month we offer our FabGrab Sale.  This is where we offer new and gently used sewing items and fabrics for sale. Fabric by the pound, machines, tables and notions - all in great condition and at amazing prices. We also have a number of FREE items! Check the site regularly to see upcoming dates for future FabGrab Sales!

If you know someone wanting to donate fabric or sewing-related items, please contact the studio. We will gladly schedule a pick-up of these items!

We are currently seeking donations to fund scholarships to allow for enrollment of students who are not able to afford class tuition. It is our goal that we will eventually operate without having to turn a single student away for reasons of financial need. Your generous support will allow this to take place! The Donate button on this website will also allow for donations to be made in honor of someone you love!

We are always seeking volunteers at our studio! We welcome volunteers of all ability levels to help with sorting, measuring, ironing and cutting donated fabric and cutting fabric for quilting and other class projects. We are also in need of class assistants for our Summer Camp and other classes. In addition, service hours are given for our high school student volunteers.

How can you help?

Individual or corporate donations are sought for the following:

  • Monetary donations to purchase equipment and supplies, fund course scholarships, and assist with operating expenses.

  • Volunteers to assist with instruction, sewing, cutting, ironing or to help organize donations
